FEMA is giving Escambia County homeowners $20 million dollars to help prevent future hurricane damage to their homes. The grant money will be used to install hurricane shutters, wind-resistant doors and hurricane straps on their roofs.Residents of Escambia County may apply to receive the prevention measures, free of charge. The FEMA money should help reinforce 3000 homes .
This is the second such grant for Escambia County. Residents were recently eligible for a five million dollar grant that helped reinforce 800 homes.
Anti-pork Congressman Jeff Miller will be in town tomorrow to announce the new round of FEMA spending.
